Parents as Career Coaches
Parents help us discover the gifts and vocations that God has for our lives. Parents help children and adolescents discover their interests and gifts of motivation. Parents identify the steps and resources needed to develop qualities and talents that children and young people possess.
Parents know that children and adolescents are the interests, skills, abilities and talents in a seed. These seeds will become racing jobs, tasks, assignments, or departments. Then, the talents and gifts to generate income, wages and spiritual rewards that children are a pleasure to know to fulfill the vocations that God has placed in their lives.
The purpose of a father
A father receives guidance from Proverbs 18:16, Proverbs 22:6 and 1 Peter 4:10.
Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
1 Peter 4:10 Since that every man received a gift, even if the gift itself minister to one another as good stewards of God's grace on the track.
Gift Proverbs 18:16 a man made room for him and brings him before great men.
To learn the skills, interests and gifts of motivation, parents have many tasks:
Evaluating children and adolescents' interests, skills, abilities, beliefs and values.
Discover career opportunities that relate with children and adolescents found that interest.
Helping children and adolescents choose the position of secondary education and adequate training.
Provide resources that help children and teens use their professional interests, abilities, skills, beliefs and values.
Understanding the link between education, training and occupations.
Enter the experiences that meet career, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral objectives.
Present information in the market for current and future work.
Knowing the resolution of problems and decision-making strategies, and
Solving the problems of race, conflict and concerns.

Step One: Preliminary Assessment
Parents should have access to the evaluation of professional equipment, online or paper / pencil. From these assessments, parents, adolescents and children acquire the knowledge and understanding our abilities, ambitions, abilities, identities, interests, goals, resources, skills and values. Step Two: Education and work exploration
The parents, children and adolescents to gather information on:
Educational Choice
The benefits of academic success
The market economy or working
Professional Choice
Specific occupations and programs of study
Training Opportunities
The relationship between work and learning
Positive attitudes toward work and learning
Personal responsibility and good work habits
A typical workday for a particular profession:
Career Exploration
Step Three: Troubleshooting
Parents, children, adolescents and solve problems of the race:
Identify obstacles educational and career planning
Creating solutions or courses of action
Set achievable
The resolution of conflicts and tensions
Make a commitment to reach our God given potential
Problem solving must take into account personal values, interests, skills and financial resources. The major problems are divided into smaller more manageable steps. Results can achieved in the production of new skills, attitudes, solutions and opportunities for education and training.
Step Four: Goal Setting and decision making
As individuals, parents, children and adolescents:
Define, identify, prioritize and rank goals
State clearly our professional interests, skills and values
Derive plans or strategies to implement solutions
Commit to complete plans
Understand the process decision
Evaluation of the first choice
Consider a secondary career option, if necessary
The decision process include:
The development of learning plans and career
Identification of suitable jobs
Selection of appropriate education
Determining the costs of schooling
Taking into account the impact career decisions.
Step Five: Implementation
Although the application and implementing our plans for learning and career, parents, children and adolescents to translate professional interests, abilities and skills in career opportunities. Parents, children and adolescents to the test of reality through interviews of workers in progress, job shadowing, part-time employment, the full-time employment and voluntary work. Parents, children, adolescents, and get training, for example, social skills, writing resumes, creating networking, and preparing for interviews.
Career Planning Resources
To assess the gifts, talents and abilities, parents, children and adolescents in need of career resources. Planning professional resources include books, cassettes, video programs, audio, games, workshops, self-evaluation inventory, web-site career exploration, and computer-assisted career guidance. These resources are located in libraries, community colleges and centers resources.
The basis of most resources is the National Career Development Guidelines. In 1987 the National Information on the work of Coordination Committee (NOICC) developed the National Career Development Guidelines. Guidelines were organized into three areas: self-knowledge, the education and exploration of occupations and career planning.
Self-knowledge, with offerings of our self-concept, interpersonal skills, growth and development.
Education and Work Exploration reveals the relationship between learning, work, careers in information technology, job search, skills development and the labor market.
The career planning includes self-assessment, career exploration, decision – decisions, life training function, goal setting and implementation of career options.
Conclusion
Each of us is important, different and special. God knows our gifts, talents and abilities. God has chosen for positions and special assignments. Our profession must take into account the vocations that God has placed in our lives. Our vocations are the gifts that God has given us. Our destinies are God's. Parents help children and teens discover God-given talents, skills and interests for children and young people can achieve God's purpose for their lives.
As parents, we will use the prayer, the Word God, other books, videotapes, audiotapes, games, workshops, training materials, self-assessment inventories, career Web sites, with Computer-assisted career guidance programs and resource centers to help us help our children and adolescents.
