Authoritarianism, restrictive punitive style in which parents urge their children to follow directions and respect the work and effort. The authoritarian parent places firm limits and controls on the child and the actions of a few minutes. I am a 3 years child psychology major and a woman who was raised by such parents. My mother abused me, beyond the simple wayy spanking to correct the misconduct. I was very emotionally from my mother and I still am. I showed disrespect their style of parenting much more (in combination with drug abuse and alcohol) is not allowed to see my kids, because it's the same way. It is a "my way or the highway "type of father and if he tried to sit and talk quietly with her, she always ended up screaming at me. Good news is that I had the strength and determination to end this cycle of my family and I'm more of an authoritarian father instead. I am more loving and emotionally available to my children, but also believe in spanking my kids (within reason). He marked a large extent, the way my mother treated me. I do not think this is a good way to raise her son. He fears the cause and not establishes a relationship with open communication at all.
